Israeli citrus season is in full swing. Demand for grapefruits of first and second class is slightly increasing. This year 2 class are more popular than in the past – the price tag and looks are very close to the Turkish grapefruit, but the Israeli surpasses it in taste and storage parameters.
Second class is an ideal fruit for discounters and regions with low purchasing power. For comparison, photo of 1st class Sunrise grapefruit:
Last week first containers leading Israeli mandarin varieties Op have been shipped. To Eastern Europe and Russia, mostly class 2 is packed, as 1 class is in high demand in Western Europe. We pack selected class 2 (pictured), which looks a little different not only from 1 class mandarins from other countries, but also from 1 class mandarins of some other Israeli producers.
Russian buyer appreciated the taste of Or variety and it has stable high demand.
In the coming weeks variety Ora will be added (which is different from Or by having several stones in each fruit).
Because of the severe weather conditions in the last week, we expect a large shortage of all types of citrus fruits in the near future, as well as increasing of percentage of external damage from the elements.
